roeJ reveals staggering Liquid offer he received in 2021

The now-retired Dane says he passed on the big-money move to prioritize long-term growth.

In a recent episode of the podcast Bootcamp, retired CS2 player Fredrik “roeJ” Jørgensen opened up about the most lucrative offer he received during his career.

The offer came during his time with Copenhagen Flames, specifically around the time of the PGL Stockholm Major in 2021.

According to roeJ, it was Liquid who reached out, and the numbers were hard to ignore.

Here, the North American organization offered him a salary of roughly $37,000 per month, roeJ revealed.

– The guy from the Liquid management messaged me: “Would you be interested in coming over here? You can expect at least 250,000 DKK a month ($37,000). That’s just standard.”

Other priorities

At the time, his monthly salary was set at 25,000 DKK ($3,700), meaning the Liquid offer would multiply his earnings by ten times.

Still, roeJ declined the offer. While the paycheck was tempting, he explained that other factors mattered more to him.

– It sounded great, but I wanted to be somewhere I felt I could perform. And going over there, I’d be playing with EliGE, who plays a lot of my roles.

– Sure, it would have been nice to go over there and cash in, but I also wanted to improve and make it far with my own career, so that meant more to me.

Joining Fnatic

Instead of making the move to North America, roeJ stayed in Europe and signed a deal with Fnatic in 2022. The transfer, which also included nicoodoz, ultimately led to the breakup of the successful Copenhagen Flames roster.

Earlier this year, the Danish rifler officially announced his retirement from competitive Counter-Strike at the age of 31.
