FaZe could be getting a familiar face back just in time for the playoffs at IEM Dallas.
According to Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev, Håvard “rain” Nygaard is expected to rejoin the team later this week — but only if they manage to qualify for the knockout stage. The update came from an interview with Anastasija “Heccu” Tolmačeva during the ongoing tournament in Texas.
rain has been absent from the FaZe lineup due to family reasons. Before the event, the Norwegian rifler confirmed he would miss at least part of IEM Dallas because his wife was expecting their second child.
In his place, FaZe brought in Brazilian stand-in Felipe “skullz” Medeiros, who has been playing alongside s1mple, karrigan, frozen and EliGE.
It now appears that the plan is for rain to slot back into the roster if FaZe can stay alive in the lower bracket and reach the playoffs.
FaZe opened their IEM Dallas campaign with a loss to Liquid and are now fighting for survival in the lower bracket. Their next challenge will be against HEROIC on Wednesday at 17:30 CET. To reach the playoffs — and open the door for rain’s return — they’ll need to string together two straight wins.
If the playoff run doesn’t materialise, rain is still expected to link up with the team in Texas after the event for their pre-Major bootcamp ahead of the Austin Major.
