B8’s crazy run from Stage 1 to Major playoffs fell just short, as they lose their final series in stage 3 to NAVI. B8’s star rifler Andrii “npl” Kukharskyi was not disappointed after being eliminated.
“It was a good run. I’m not disappointed.”
Starting from outside the top 50 last year to now being ranked at #16 in the VRS not many knew what to expect from the Ukrainian squad – except the team themselves.
“We expected it, because we worked a lot. Our minimum goal was Stage 3 and with better seedings we probably had a chance at playoffs.”
At 11-12 facing match and series point B8 took a timeout, even though they didn’t have their coach with them. The timeout didn’t help them much as npl revealed that alex666’s microphone didn’t work during the timeout.
“He said nothing, because his microphone was in the wrong position. At the end of the pause i was like ‘why is he not speaking’ and looked at him. His microphone was pointed up, so we didn’t hear him.”
Going in to the match npl and the rest of the team felt the pressure of playing in such a big game.
“As a team we felt the pressure on the stage. We were nervous and missed a lot of grenades and we didn’t hear each other.”
The first map was rough for B8 as they lost Ancient, their map pick, 13-4. The mood in the team was a little titled after that beating.
“A little bit tilted. We missed grenades and it’s very hard to play when we miss grenades and do things wrong compared to practice.”
