NAVI are listed among the teams for HyperX RETAKE Season 13, an open-registration LAN with a prize pool of up to €15,000, but the event overlaps with PGL Masters Bucharest.
NAVI have signed up for HyperX RETAKE Season 13 in Lisbon, according to reports from Dust2.us and Dust2 Brasil. HLTV’s event page lists the team among the attendees through open registration, with Aleksib, iM, b1t, w0nderful and makazze in the lineup.
Neither NAVI nor the organizer had confirmed the entry publicly on Wednesday morning.
A small event with big stakes
HyperX RETAKE is a Portuguese circuit, and Season 13 is open to any team that pays the €1,000 entry fee. The event runs from 29 October to 1 November at TP Lisboa Nations, and the prize pool grows with the number of teams, from €7,500 with eight teams up to €15,000 with 16, according to the organizer. The event counts towards Valve’s Regional Standings.
The timing is the point. The invite cutoff for the PGL Major Singapore is 2 November, the day after the final in Lisbon. NAVI have never missed a Major, but HLTV’s forecast has had them outside the invite places. According to Dust2 Brasil, which cites HLTV’s invite simulation, a top-four finish in Lisbon would raise NAVI’s chances of a Major invite to 98%.
Dust2 Brasil also writes that it would be NAVI’s first tier-two LAN in eight years.
Clash with Bucharest
The question is how NAVI would fit Lisbon into their schedule. They are also in the field for PGL Masters Bucharest, a $1,250,000 event that runs from 24 to 31 October. The two events overlap from 29 to 31 October, so a deep run in Bucharest would make it hard to play in Lisbon.
Registration for HyperX RETAKE closes on 19 October.
