NAVI had to save a match point on Inferno to prevent G2 advancing.
Natus Vincere has made it to the playoffs of the BLAST.tv Austin Major after defeating G2 in an overtime decider.
G2 goes on to face TheMongolZ tomorrow, the #5 team of the event, to see if they can make the playoffs.
Despite G2’s use of a stand-in, the margins were small on the final map, as NAVI had a match point against them.
jL pulls NAVI through Mirage
Mirage is NAVI’s most picked map, and they opted for it against G2, who has not played it with this roster yet.
It was a close affair which needed jL to drop a 30-bomb over 23 rounds to make it happen.
NAVI had the advantage for most of the game thanks to jL’s consistent fragging, and it took a 1v1 from iM on low HP to secure the map.
Anubis looked like a NAVI map as well, as the Ukraininan organization got only 4 rounds away from the playoffs.
Malbs pulls G2 through
However, G2 mounted a flawless comeback, not losing a round, securing the map 13-9.
On G2, malbsMd was the highlight, getting 12 kills on the Terrorist side to close the map. Stand-in hades also stood out, getting 11 kills on CT-side and 9 on the T-side.
On Inferno, it was a back-and-forth affair with G2 taking control in the second half, with a 10-6 lead. NAVI returned with a comeback to make the game 12-10 in their favor, including 2 retakes.
G2 managed to get the game to overtime, through a B-split that broke through NAVI’s defense.
Back-and-forth in OT
Overtime had mistakes from both teams, as malbsMd gave a free kill to give up the B-site to lose a round, and in the next hades got a collateral as Aleksib and jL lined up.
In the end it was a 2v3 from w0nderful and b1t to save NAVI and go to another OT.
After back-and-forth rounds, it was NAVI turning a 3v5 after malbsMd got a double entry that secured the map 19-16.
It was w0nderful that fragged late in the map that helped bring his team over the line.
