Monte secures redemption and the Crown at CCT Global Finals 2026

With tier 1 Counter-Strike 2 taking a brief breather this weekend, the tier 2 scene stepped up to deliver top-tier entertainment for fans. The CCT Global Finals 2026 wrapped up on Sunday, April 26th, with Monte standing tall, hoisting the trophy after a best-of-five grand final against HEROIC.

The road to the finals

Monte’s path to the championship was a textbook story of resilience. Just a day prior, HEROIC had dealt Monte a narrow 2-1 defeat in a best-of-three series. However, when the stakes were highest in Sunday’s grand final, Monte flipped the script entirely. They controlled the server in the Bo5 marathon, closing out a decisive 3-1 victory to claim the throne and the lion’s share of the prize pool.

Meanwhile, Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP) fought hard for a respectable third-place finish. Their weekend included solid 2-0 and 2-1 victories over 100 Thieves and BIG, respectively, before they were ultimately halted by the unstoppable Monte in a tight 2-1 series.

MVP-worthy performances

The tournament was defined by explosive individual plays, but no one shined brighter than Monte’s afro. He was an absolute menace across the entire event. Over the course of 15 maps and 324 rounds, afro posted a staggering +82 Kill/Death differential, a 1.46 K/D ratio, and an event-leading 1.33 Rating.

Other notable standouts included HEROIC’s nilo (1.18 rating) and NiP’s xKacpersky (1.15 rating), who both carried heavy fragging burdens for their squads. Fans were also treated to a solid showing from veteran device under the 100 Thieves banner, who managed a 1.14 rating despite the team’s early exit.

Final standings and prize distribution

  • 1st Place: Monte: $15,000 (+ $15,000 Club share)
  • 2nd Place: HEROIC: $7,500 (+ $10,000 Club share)
  • 3rd Place: Ninjas in Pyjamas: $5,000 (+ $5,000 Club share)
  • 4th Place: BIG: $3,500 (+ $4,000 Club share)
  • 5th and 6th Place: 100 Thieves and Sharks (+ $3,000 Club share each)
  • 7th and 8th Place: Betclic and illwill (+ $2,000 Club share each; illwill withdrew)

While the grand stages of tier 1 CS2 were quiet, the CCT Global Finals provided exactly the kind of high-stakes, revenge-fueled Counter-Strike fans needed to tide them over.
