mezii previewed the grudge match against Falcons, at their home event, but the crowd with Vitality.
After beating Lynn Vision 2-0 at the Esports World Cup (EWC), Vitality reaches the playoffs. William ‘mezii’ Merriman spoke to us about the support they’re getting from the fans amidst a team-wide slump and a potential rematch against Falcons coming in the playoffs.
Emotional support when Vitality needs it
When you have this support it’s always the best. As a player it gives you that extra push.
Vitality’s winning ways have recently ended, losing at the IEM Cologne Major to a Falcons on a miracle run. Then, they fell to Team Liquid in the online stage of the BLAST Bounty.
Always held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, EWC moved at the last minute to Paris, France due to geopolitical reasons. Vitality is now the crowd favorite at EWC, at least in the CS2 tournament.
According to mezii, having the fans on their side has been important during their slump, hearing them shout during their huddle and chant during their matches.
When we don’t play as good, we have their support so we can go all the way.
Vitality-Falcons: Civil War
Supposed Falcons’ home ground, Vitality now encroach on their sacred territory as the crowd favorite.
A grudge match from what was supposed to be Vitality’s Major in July, mezii called it “exciting”.
We don’t like it when teams beat us too much, and Falcons had have our number a couple times.
He maintained that Vitality were confident they could win if they showed good form.
Going up against Falcons we’re always confident, we know exactly we can do. If we get into the server and play our way, we will end up being very happy at the end of it.
