MATYS after beating FURIA: “We can for sure beat Vitality”

G2 booked a spot in the arena final and Matúš "MATYS" Šimko could not hide how much it means. He called the run “amazing,” said he is “so happy to be here."

G2 booked a spot in the arena final and Matúš “MATYS” Šimko could not hide how much it means. He called the run “amazing,” said he is “so happy to be here,” and put the target in plain view with:

“We can for sure beat Vitality.”

The confidence came with respect, he stressed they will “go humble to the game” while still carrying the belief that they can win.

A first arena final, a different G2

Matys felt this matchup is not the same as earlier in the season when they met at IEM Cologne. G2 have grown into their new look, and he believes the difference will show on stage. In his words:

“Now it is going to be a completely different game,” because the team is “way more comfortable with each other as individuals and as a team.”

It is no longer just about hot hands, they now have more of a strategic base to lean on.

“We have way more stuff to lean on, not only individual skill, mostly as a team and decision making as a team.”

Why the new pieces clicked so fast

Asked why the new pieces on G2 has integrated so quickly, Matys pointed to habits and trust. The group is ready to help each other anytime, sometimes by plan and sometimes naturally. If a player has a read, it is not a one man show.

“It is not like only one guy is doing everything, second guy is full supporting,” he said. The standard is shared, “it comes for every individual in our gameplay.”

For Matys and G2 the hope is simple: beat Vitality, win their first LAN trophy as a 5-man squad and keep improving.
