Team Liquid will be absent from major top-tier events for the next three months following their elimination at the BLAST Bounty Season 2 finals in Malta. Despite showing strong form with their new roster by defeating Vitality and G2 Esports to reach the finals, their subsequent loss to Team Spirit comes with severe consequences for their tournament calendar.

Ranking consequences and missed opportunities
According to Valve Regional Standings (VRS) analyst Jesper “Udknud” Larsen, the defeat against Spirit effectively pushes Liquid out of the tier 1 invite bubble. A victory in the finals would have secured a highly sought-after invitation to Fissure 5. Instead, Liquid is projected to place 32nd in the August rankings. This placement fails to yield any meaningful direct invites for the upcoming major qualification cycle.
Qualification battles ahead
The upset victories over Vitality and G2 did provide one concrete benefit for the North American organization. The points gathered during the BLAST Bounty tournament allowed Liquid to overtake M80, securing a regional invite for IEM Beijing in November. Without this invite, the team would have been completely sidelined until the major qualifiers or the IEM Krakow play-in at the earliest.
To return to top-tier competition before November, the roster must now fight their way through open and closed qualifiers. Their only immediate paths back into the circuit rely on winning the EWC Open Qualifier or the PGL Bucharest qualifier. Until then, Liquid joins teams like Heroic on the outside of the invite bubble, forced to play through the standard qualification process to regain access to premier events.
