Legacy save three map points on Mirage, then beat DENDELE 2-0 in double overtime

Legacy came back from 9-12 on Mirage and won it 19-17 in double overtime after taking DENDELE's Cache pick 13-9. try finished the series 59-33, and DENDELE are on two defeats in Bucharest.

A day after a four-overtime defeat to Nemiga, Legacy came out on the right side of extra rounds. They won DENDELE’s Cache pick 13-9, recovered from 9-12 on their own Mirage and closed it 19-17, with try finishing the series 59-33. DENDELE have lost all four of their maps in Bucharest, and their tournament now hangs on a single best-of-three.

Overtime was where Legacy‘s tournament had started to go wrong. On Saturday they lost a 48-round Ancient to Nemiga, 25-23 after four extra periods, and with it their opening match at PGL Masters Bucharest 2026. On Sunday they went back into overtime on Mirage, and this time the last round was theirs.

It nearly did not get that far. DENDELE led Legacy’s own map pick 12-9 and had three chances to send the series to a decider on Ancient. Legacy won the next three rounds, then needed two overtimes to finish it. The 2-0 ends a run of three straight series defeats.

A Mirage that DENDELE had won

For 21 rounds, Mirage belonged to the underdogs. Legacy took both pistol rounds, but DENDELE won more of the rifle rounds. They held Legacy’s B hits again and again, with maxxkor’s AWP covering the site, and went into the break 7-5 up on the CT side. Legacy looked flat. Their B hits kept running into stacked defences, the individual duels went the wrong way, and several rounds ran down to the last seconds before being lost.

DENDELE kept that edge after the switch and reached 12-9. What followed was the stretch that decided the series. Legacy won three rounds in a row to force overtime, and their AWPer finally took over. try had been quiet for long spells of regulation; in overtime he won the duels that mattered, several of them against maxxkor, his Argentine counterpart on the other side.

The first overtime still went back and forth. Legacy reached two match points at 15-13, and DENDELE saved both, with rdnzao winning the round that forced a second extra period. In the second, Legacy won a round that had started two against four, with try finishing it in a one-against-one against maxxkor. Legacy went 18-16 up for two more match points, rdnzao denied one of them, and Legacy closed the map 19-17.

try ended Mirage on 30 kills and 20 deaths, the best difference on the server. Nobody else on his team finished the map more than three kills ahead.

Cache, and four AWP duels to one

The first map was DENDELE’s pick and never felt like it. Legacy led 9-3 at the half and won 13-9. try went 29-13 there with 103.2 ADR, and n1ssim added 18 kills to 12 deaths. Their AWP battle was lopsided as well: try won four of his five duels against maxxkor on the map.

It meant that try’s numbers across the series were in a different category from everyone else’s. His 59 kills were 16 more than anyone else managed, and his difference of +26 was the only one higher than +4 on either team.

A slide that had followed Legacy into Bucharest

Legacy arrived in Romania as last year’s finalists, eighth in Valve’s Regional Standings and with their Major place never in question. Their recent results told a different story. Before Sunday they had lost three series in a row, to FURIA, BetBoom and Nemiga, and five of their last six.

In an interview PGL aired between the two maps, in-game leader arT, who only recently returned after time away with health problems, spoke about how much of that comes down to the team’s state of mind. He said the group has to manage its expectations, because falling short of them leaves the players frustrated and unable to play the way they want, and he pointed to the series against BetBoom, where Legacy had several match points and still lost. The goal in Bucharest, he said, is the playoffs first.

arT himself finished with the weakest numbers on his team, 28 kills and 38 deaths, and latto, who carried Legacy through Saturday’s long Ancient, was also below even. On a day like that, a 59-kill AWPer is what kept the series from going to three maps.

Four close maps, none won

DENDELE, who came to Bucharest through the South American qualifier, have now played four maps at the event and lost them by five, two, four and two rounds: 8-13 and 11-13 against FURIA, then 9-13 and 17-19 against Legacy. Mirage was the closest they have come and the best they have looked, led by rdnzao, 26-22 on the map, and doc, who had the highest ADR on the server at 89.9.

The pistol rounds are where it keeps slipping away. They lost both on Mirage, and the eco and force rounds after them put them behind on a map where they were the better team in full buys.

The road from here

Legacy now sit on one win and one loss along with Liquid, The MongolZ, Spirit, Nemiga, MOUZ and Aurora, two wins short of the playoffs. The result is worth 11 points to them in HLTV’s projection of Valve’s standings, and they hold eighth.

DENDELE join TYLOO, 9z and G2 on two defeats. Their third-round series is a straight elimination match: lose it, and their stay in Bucharest is over. The defeat costs them four points and one place, down to 43rd.
