Highlights from IEM Krakow Day 6: Astralis stay alive by taking down FUT

They will play FURIA for a spot in the top 6.

AURORA beats MOUZ to Krakow stadium

After beating Team Falcons yesterday, the Turkish superteam has now taken another big scalp on their way to playoffs.

They defeated MOUZ 2-0, who start the season slow after skipping the BLAST Bounty. On MOUZ, only Lotan ‘Spinx’ Giladi had great individual moments at times.

On Aurora, it was a feel-good game for Caner ‘soulfly’ Kesici – his first in an Aurora jersey. Across Dust2 and Inferno, the recent addition died the least and went 4:1 in opening duels for his team.

FUT’s fairytale run ends here

Despite having a questionable start to the season, Astralis has powered up in form until dispatching of the hot hands of Krakow.

After beating top opponents including Team Liquid and FURIA, losses to G2 and Astralis cost FUT their tournament life. This is despite taking the first map against Astralis, and having a 9-5 lead on the second map of Overpass.

A strong T-side from Swede Love ‘phzy’ Smidebrant was instrumental in getting Astralis 5 T-side rounds, which were crucial as they won the map 13-11.

The third map of Nuke proved too tall a task for the youngsters of FUT, as Astralis rolled to a 13-2 victory on their home map. However, it does not get any easier for them, as they need to secure a win over FURIA to make it to the Krakow stage.

FaZe bullshit sends BC.Game packing

Despite going -6 in opening kills throughout the series, FaZe won a tight series against challengers at BC.Game.

Oleksandr ‘s1mple’ Kostyliev found his team in multiple advantage situations throughout the series, and had to watch as they threw it away multiple times. To FaZe’s credit, they won 5 clutches in this series to secure the win.

BC.Game had a dominant Nuke win with s1mple doing 100 damage per round, but FaZe capitalized on their mistakes on Dust2 and Ancient.

Helvijs ‘broky’ Saukants was exceptional today, going 8:4 in AWP kills against s1mple.

FURIA beat NAVI setting up headline match

Since FURIA came out on top in the rematch from the Budapest Major, they will face Astralis. To beat NAVI, they came through in a scrappy Dust2 decider, where all initial 12 rounds were won interchangeably by both teams.

FURIA and Astralis will face off for a spot in the top 6 tomorrow at 16.30 CET.

Other elimination matches are:

MOUZ vs FaZe Clan – 13.00 CET

3DMAX vs Team Falcons – 13.00 CET

Upper bracket match:

Team Vitality vs Aurora – 16.30 CET

Team Spirit vs G2 Esports – 19.00 CET
