Highlights from IEM Krakow Day 5: FURIA to rematch NAVI for elimination

Just one week after their BLAST Bounty title win, PARIVISION were eliminated from Krakow in last place.

Astralis humbles PARIVISION

Astralis’s CT sides looked strong today, as they took on a team that destroyed them in the online portion of the BLAST Bounty.

Jakob ‘jabbi’ Nygaard had tremendous impact on the win, gathering 70 kills over the three maps. Astralis took their pick of Overpass thanks to a great start, but lost on Dust2 in overtime.

On the decider of Ancient, Astralis took over with another fantastic 8:4 CT side, that they closed out this time.

PARIVISION leave Krakow with series victories against HEROIC and Aurora, but losses to NAVI and Astralis. This begs the question if their Bounty form was something they can replicate, or a fluke to start the season.

Aurora beats Falcons

Falcons found themselves again at the center of another dumbfounding round loss, as they gave up a 5v2 where they had all the information and space.

Also in this series, Ismailcan ‘XANTARES’ Dörtkardeş found his best form, getting a 4k on Falcons’ attack. Ali ‘Wicadia’ Haydar Yalçın said before the match that they like to play against Falcons specifically.

Falcons still managed to take that map of Mirage, but fell on Aurora’s pick of Anubis and on Inferno. That means they are straight down to the lower bracket, where they will take on NA hopefuls, NRG.

Fun fact: NRG had a respectable loss against MOUZ today, and Nick ‘nitr0’ Cannella was the victim of three Scout headshots in a row while trying to cross the mid-doors.

Spirit and G2 make playoffs

Team Spirit made it to playoffs, party thanks to an insane popoff from Danil ‘donk’ Kryshkovets in the opener of Mirage. It could have slipped away from them, but the Russian’s 37-kill performance helped secure a 16-14 win.

That allowed Myroslav ‘zont1x’ Plakhotia to wake up on the second map of Dust2, after having a quiet Mirage. He carried a brutal 13-3 win over NAVI, sending them to the lower bracket to face FURIA, in a rematch of the Major quarter-final.
