G2 are off to a disastrous start at PGL Astana, with the second day of play now wrapped up.
Following a 2-1 defeat to Brazilian underdogs ODDIK on Sunday evening, the European squad have now lost two straight matches at the $1.25 million event.
That means they’re just one loss away from elimination.
One major factor behind G2’s slow start could be the absence of Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač, who has missed the opening matches due to visa issues. With their full lineup unavailable, G2 now face a do-or-die matchup against M80 in the 0-2 pool on Monday.
Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski and his teammates will need to bounce back quickly to avoid an early exit from Kazakhstan.
ODDIK’s upset over G2 capped off an eventful day in Astana, where NAVI, Astralis, and Spirit all secured wins. On the other side of the bracket, BIG, NIP, and MIBR dropped crucial matches, putting their tournament runs in jeopardy.
