The undisputed crown jewel of the summer Counter-Strike calendar has arrived, but with a massive geographical twist. Originally slated for Riyadh, the Esports World Cup 2026 (EWC) has officially relocated to the heart of France. Taking over the colossal Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, this staggering $2,000,000 USD spectacle is set to turn the City of Light into a veritable battleground. Organized by the ESL FACEIT Group in tandem with the Esports Foundation, this Valve Tier-1, S-Tier event is bringing the absolute peak of tactical mastery to the French capital.
With an expanded 32-team roster, the stakes have never been higher. The world’s most elite rosters, regional dark horses, and newly formed superteams will clash over two relentless weeks. Between the monumental $600,000 top prize and crucial Club Championship points on the line, the battle in Paris promises to deliver career-defining moments and heart-stopping upsets.

Securing a ticket to this 32-team Parisian bloodbath was no small feat. The lineup is a brutal mix of globally invited juggernauts dominating the Valve Regional Standings (VRS) and regional qualifiers who clawed their way through fierce North American, South American, and Asian brackets. We have heavyweights looking to assert dominance, alongside revamped rosters desperate to prove their chaotic transfer window decisions will pay off on the server.

Tournament news
- The Parisian Relocation: In a historic shift announced earlier this year, EWC 2026 was moved from Saudi Arabia to Paris amidst geopolitical security concerns, marking the first time the global event will be hosted outside the Middle East.
- G2’s Sniper Shakeup: G2 Esports dropped a bombshell leading into the tournament, moving SunPayus to the bench in favor of acquiring the young, explosive AWP talent r1nkle from NiP.
- MOUZ Finalizes Firepower: Looking to match the firepower of the world’s best, MOUZ finalized their menacing roster by picking up PR from GamerLegion to play alongside the incredibly dangerous Spinx.
- Astralis’ Legendary Leadership: Astralis has fully parted ways with ruggah, opting instead to bring Polish Counter-Strike royalty NEO behind the players as head coach to guide HooXi’s calls.

Format
Group Stage (August 12 – 18, 2026)
The massive 32-team field will be violently cut in half across four ruthless, eight-team double-elimination groups (GSL format). The tension will be immediate: every single opening match is a volatile Best-of-1, where a slow start could immediately plunge a tier-one favorite into the lower bracket. From there, every subsequent progression or elimination series transforms into a grueling Best-of-3. Only the top four teams from each group will survive the gauntlet and advance to the arena.
Playoffs (August 20 – 23, 2026)
The 16 survivors will be seeded into a massive, do-or-die Single-Elimination bracket. There are no second chances, no lower bracket runs—just pure elimination pressure. Every Quarter-final and Semi-final clash is a Best-of-3. The two teams left standing will then face off in a marathon Best-of-5 Grand Final to claim the Parisian crown.
Prize Pool Distribution
With $2,000,000 USD on the line, the financial rewards are life-changing. Beyond the massive $600,000 reserved for the champions, organizations will also be fighting tooth and nail for placements to earn EWC Club Points for the cross-game championship.
