dumau on 2-2 match: “I don’t think about going home, everyone here will go home at some point”

Legacy has gone from not qualifying for the Major, to being a match away from playoffs in mere weeks.

Legacy has gone from failing to qualify for the Major, to being a match away from the Major playoffs in mere weeks.

During the BLAST.tv South American Major Qualifier in April, Legacy lost 2-0 to BESTIA in the final match, and failed to qualify for the Major.

However, due to BESTIA’s issues obtaining the required visas for their players, Legacy came in as a last-minute substitute to Stage 1, with 32 teams in total at the Major.

Now, Legacy are in the top 14 teams of the event, and only one BO3 series away from the final 8-team bracket.

They have taken scalps like FaZe Clan and Team Vitality on the way, the latter being the #1 team at the event. Now, they defeated Lynn Vision 2-1 to make it to the decisive 2-2 match tomorrow.

Pley spoke with dumau, who told us about the mentality they had before their invite to the Major, and how they face their deciding match tomorrow.

“We were almost on vacation”

When we asked dumau if the team was almost on vacation, he said they were, but that they practiced hard just in case they got the spot.

  • We were almost on vacation, actually. But BLAST said that we [might] play. And as soon as we had it, we said “just go guys”. And then we started playing very hard in practice, looking for mistakes to fix it, and trying to get better.

Dumau also talked about the 2-2 match tomorrow, where Legacy has a chance to make the top 8 after not even having qualified for the event.

  • If we go down fighting hard and giving our hearts – playing CS, believing in ourselves – if we lose, for me it doesn’t matter. For me, I don’t think about going home, because everyone here will go home at some point, it’s just a matter of time.

Legacy and dumau will face their opponent in the decisive 2-2 match tomorrow.
