In-game leaders are often criticized for having low individual scores, and they are frequently the lowest-rated players on their teams overall. However, they are also the players who contribute the most to the overall tactics, playing sacrificial roles, whether that means entry-fragging onto sites or throwing support flashes for their teammates.
We want to highlight the current best IGLs in top-tier Counter-Strike as we are currently in the middle of IEM Rio 2026. These are the players who are delivering solid numbers on the server while simultaneously getting their teams to play winning Counter-Strike. To measure this, we took the individual rating of the IGLs and the overall team rating, added them together, and divided the sum by two to create an Aggregate Score. All ratings are from HLTV.

The standouts at the top
When looking at the updated data, Dan “apEX” Madesclaire has solidified his position as the premier performing IGL. With Vitality continuing their incredible dominance, having now won three Tier-1 tournaments in 2026 including a recent victory at BLAST Open Rotterdam a few weeks ago, apEX proves exactly why he sits comfortably at the top of this ranking.

Right behind him, 21-year-old Aulon “krabeni” Fazlija from FUT Esports has surged to the second spot, moving past MOUZ’s Brollan and PARIVISION’s Jame. The young Kosovar has just led his team to a massive Tier-1 tournament victory at PGL Bucharest 2026 last week, continuously putting up consistent individual numbers while elevating FUT against top-tier opposition.
It is also worth highlighting NAVI’s recent triumph at ESL Pro League Season 23, a tournament where Vitality did not participate. This victory helped their IGL, Aleksib, break into the top 10 of the aggregate score rankings.
With only 12 maps against the top 30 teams in 2026, BIG has not yet played enough maps to reach our threshold of a minimum of 20 maps. But ๐ฉ๐ฐ Benjamin “blameF” Bremer is a very strong contender for the list with his impressive individual level (1.21 rating). Combined with BIG’s team rating blameF would rank number 1 on our list.
The bottom of the pack
At the other end of the spectrum, the statistics reflect an ongoing difficult period for several veteran in-game leaders. Players like MUTiRiS, biguzera, and karrigan are currently struggling to find a balance between their individual output and overall team performance.
These struggles are already having real consequences in the scene. MUTiRiS has actually just been benched on BC.Game, as his 0.84 individual rating combined with the team’s 0.95 rating left him with the lowest aggregate score of the bunch at 0.895, closely followed by paiN’s biguzera. Meanwhile, amidst FaZe Clan’s turbulent form, karrigan is heavily rumored to be taking over the in-game leader role at Falcons.
