Two places in the semi-finals of the Thunderpick World Championship are decided in Malta on Friday. 9z take on Aurora for the second time this week, and BETBOOM can move within touching distance of the Singapore Major against Legacy.
luchov knows what he has to fix. Before 9z faced Falcons on Thursday, the Argentinian said on the Thunderpick broadcast that he sometimes tries to win rounds on his own.
I’m a bit anxious sometimes. Sometimes I think that I have to make the difference, and that’s not the way that a player on a team had to think. And I have to fix that sometimes in some rounds, to stay more calm and just play a bit relaxed.
He then posted a 2.06 rating on Mirage, but Falcons won the series 2-1 and took first place in Group A. That sends 9z into a rematch with Aurora at 16:00 CEST, two days after 9z beat them 2-0 with a 13-1 on Nuke.
Aurora have bounced back since. They knocked out Ninjas in Pyjamas 2-0 on Thursday morning, and woxic said the team had talked it through after the loss to 9z. “Guys, this wasn’t us,” he said on the broadcast, adding that Aurora still aim to win the event: “Every tournament when you go, you’re aiming for a win.”

FURIA finally beat Legacy
FURIA had lost to Legacy at both the Esports World Cup and FISSURE Playground 3 this season. On Thursday they lost Cache, their own pick, before turning the series around. dumau closed out the first map with an ace on a bad buy.
FURIA changed their setup on Inferno. YEKINDAR told Dust2 Brasil that KSCERATO now plays the B site, while FalleN has moved into the rotator role. FalleN had the most kills on the map. KSCERATO led FURIA with a 1.29 rating in the series, ahead of molodoy on 1.23.
The win was FURIA’s answer to a difficult week. Before the event, FalleN admitted the team had “overbooked” their season.
Falcons through, kyousuke struggles
Falcons won the opening pistol rounds on Nuke and Dust2, and TeSeS was their best player with a 1.26 rating. kyousuke had a 0.54 rating on Mirage, his eighth lowest-rated map since joining Falcons, according to HLTV. On Dust2, they made up for a 1-13 defeat on the same map against 9z at PGL Astana.
TeSeS gave karrigan part of the credit for his own form. “He helped me a lot, my numbers are much better,” he told Dust2 Brasil (translated from Portuguese).

BETBOOM come back, PARIVISION finish last
xiELO put PARIVISION 1-0 up with a 2.82 rating on the CT side of Ancient, according to HLTV. BETBOOM then won Anubis 13-4 and Mirage 13-7. s1ren had a 1.41 rating, while Boombl4 finished on 0.88.
FL1T ended the series with a 0.61 rating. NarT noted that it was the lowest-rated event of his career. Before the match, PARIVISION coach dastan said on the broadcast that he had changed his approach to coaching, and that it is “better to be nice when you’re winning”.
What comes next
The semi-finals are played on Saturday, with the third-place match and the best-of-five grand final on Sunday. The winner takes $500,000 of the $1,000,000 prize pool. FURIA are the defending champions.
