apEX defends zonic after criticism of the Falcons boss

Is the criticism against the profiled coach fair?

Danny “zonic” Sørensen has come under fire in the Counter-Strike community following Team Falcons’ early exit from BLAST Open Lisbon 2025.

Criticism of zonic’s coaching abilities flared up after BLAST aired a short TeamSpeak snippet from one of Falcons’ timeouts during their 0-2 loss to Virtus.pro in the Group A lower bracket final.”

In the clip, captured during a tactical timeout, zonic appears uncertain mid-sentence, prompting degster to ask, “What?” After a pause, NiKo steps in and asks zonic if he has any ideas or if he should take over the call.

apEX stands up for his former coach

The clip quickly gained attention on social media and sparked renewed debate around zonic’s impact on the Falcons lineup.

Among those weighing in was Russian insider OverDrive, who criticized the Danish coach in a post on X, calling him “the most overrated figure in Counter-Strike.”

However, former Vitality captain Dan “apEX” Madesclaire offered a different perspective. Having worked with zonic during their successful run on Vitality, apEX was quick to defend his former coach:

– That’s a joke to say that. I have worked with Danny and he is a crazy good coach, he helped me to become who I am today. The work ethic he has and how much he does for a team is insane, apEX wrote on X.
