The playoffs at this year’s IEM Katowice will be without Astralis and Liquid, as both teams suffered decisive defeats in the lower bracket on Tuesday.
Nicolai “device” Reedtz and Astralis will likely be the most disappointed, as they were swept aside by GamerLegion in a one-sided affair.
The Danish squad struggled to find their footing, with GamerLegion dictating the pace from start to finish, resulting in a dominant 2-0 victory (13-7, 13-7).
Liquid got donk’d
Meanwhile, Liquid faced an uphill battle against the world leaders and reigning Major champions from Spirit and failed to pose much of a threat.
Despite brief moments of resistance, the Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken-led squad was ultimately outclassed by Danil “donk” Kryshkovets and company. Especially donk was firing on all cylinders – once again – with the Russian prodigy ending the series with a 1.54 rating.
Both matches ended in swift 2-0 victories, leaving Astralis and Liquid with an exit from the $1 million event in Poland.
On the other hand, GamerLegion and Spirit are set to go head-to-head for a playoff spot in the iconic Spodek Arena. That matchup is set to be played at 18:30 CET today.
