Apex Legends Overclocked Mid Season Update Brings Major Adjustments

The latest update for Apex Legends Overclocked introduces a significant wave of balance changes across the roster and weapon pool. Players reviewing the mid season patch notes will find a deliberate focus on curbing aggressive compositions while offering targeted enhancements to underperforming characters. This update reflects an ongoing effort by Respawn to maintain a stable and competitive environment for all skill levels.

  • Axle and Conduit see noticeable reductions in utility and an increase in cooldowns.
  • Pathfinder is granted a flat tactical cooldown and improved zipline mechanics.
  • The Hemlok Breach AR magazine capacities are reduced across all rarities.
  • A new Executioner hop-up becomes available for the Peacekeeper and Mastiff.
  • The Champion Squad screen is officially removed from the Ranked match flow.

Legend Adjustments and Balance Changes

Ballistic Tactical and Ultimate Revisions

Ballistic has historically struggled with a low pick rate following a series of aggressive balance adjustments in previous seasons. To address this deficit in the mid season update, developers aimed to restore his tactical power while ensuring opponents retain adequate counterplay options. Developers explicitly noted that his previous ultimate speed boost made his squad overly difficult to engage during team fights. The team has now implemented targeted updates to his tactical abilities and modified his ultimate to only provide a sprint boost rather than a universal speed advantage.

Ballistic Stat ChangesOld ValueNew Value
Overheat Damage1550
Overheat Duration12 seconds15 seconds
Tactical Charges12
  • Passive: Ballistic now respawns with his Sling weapon in all game modes.
  • Tactical: Overheat now applies strictly to one weapon and no longer degrades when not firing. The overheat debuff cannot be applied to multiple guns on the same player.
  • Ultimate: The speed boost is restricted to sprinting only for Ballistic and his teammates.
  • Upgrades: Level 2 Extra Bullet grants an additional tactical charge. Trap Mode leaves a tactical on the ground for 15 seconds dealing 35 damage. Level 3 Quiet Time replaces overheat with a silence and slow effect. Killing Time moves to Level 3 and extends the ultimate by 15 seconds.

Pathfinder Mobility Enhancements

Pathfinder has recently been outclassed by alternative skirmisher options in the current meta. The development team sought to increase the uptime on his abilities to help him keep pace with other highly mobile legends. By removing the progressive cooldown developers hope to provide a more consistent engagement rhythm while also bringing his upgrade tree more in line with standard class perks.

  • Passive: Pathfinder now tucks his legs while riding horizontal ziplines to reduce his hit box.
  • Ultimate: The launch speed of the zipline projectile is significantly increased.
  • Upgrades: Level 2 Field Research grants all Recon perks. Ringmaster grants all Controller perks. Level 3 Landing Gear grants enhanced air control and faster recovery from hard landings.

Seer Quality of Life Improvements

Seer experienced a brief surge in popularity following his last set of buffs but quickly settled back to the lower end of the pick rate spectrum. Recognizing his potential in higher ranked lobbies the development team focused heavily on quality of life improvements. The primary goal was to make his passive and tactical abilities feel significantly more responsive during high pressure engagements.

  • Passive: Heartbeat sensor activation speed is increased and the interval time between heartbeats is decreased. Unarmed activation time is faster and aiming delays are now consistent regardless of weapon state.
  • Tactical: The delay between launching the tactical and it registering a hit has been reduced. The slow effect on hit is improved to better halt fast moving targets.
  • Ultimate: Deployment now triggers a quick two second scan highlighting any enemy in the area. Cloaked enemies within the zone will now display visible footsteps.

Axle Utility and Speed Reductions

Axle has undeniably accelerated the overall pace of play since her introduction. Developers targeted areas of her kit that cause the most frustration while attempting to preserve her identity as a lateral speedster. Noting that her Super Slider upgrade made her tactical available too frequently the team reduced her in world utility to add risk to her overextensions. They also sought to grant agency to victims caught by her Kickstart ability.

  • Passive and Tactical: Knocked players can no longer slide across zip codes or benefit from Nitro Gate effects.
  • Upgrades: The Super Slider upgrade no longer grants a second tactical charge but instead offers a five second cooldown reduction and one additional max in world count.
  • Ultimate: Kickstart displaces victims on a parabolic arc based on their velocity rather than sending them straight up. Enemy highlight duration is slightly reduced to match the stun duration.

Mad Maggie and Valkyrie Adjustments

Mad Maggie has remained a top performer and her tactical ability has heavily controlled battlefield positioning. Developers observed that her ultimate created issues similar to the older version of Ballistic where the speed boost made players far too difficult to track. Conversely Valkyrie has seen a steady climb in pick rates over recent seasons. The team decided to make minor adjustments to both characters to manage their dominance without completely dismantling their core kits.

Tactical Cooldown22 seconds28 seconds
  • Mad Maggie Ultimate: The speed boost from wrecking ball pucks is now exclusively a sprint boost.
  • Valkyrie Passive: The recent improvement allowing her to land faster from skydiving has been reverted.

Conduit Support Meta Revisions

Conduit spiked to the top of the pick rate charts early in Season 29 and remained highly dominant. While developers were pleased with her playmaking potential they recognized her role as a primary enabler for overly aggressive meta compositions. Because she was present in the vast majority of popular team compositions her dominance crowded out alternative support legends. The team implemented heavy numerical adjustments to slow down her shield regeneration capabilities.

Tactical Cooldown27 seconds30 seconds
  • Upgrades: The Level 3 Instant Barrier regen duration is increased to six seconds. The Level 3 Enduring Barrier no longer grants regeneration through ring damage.

Weapon Adjustments and New Attachments

Assault Rifles and Shotguns

The Hemlok Breach AR has maintained a dominant position in the meta since its release. Developers noted that its damage output per magazine was overly generous allowing for easy suppression at higher tiers. To combat this magazine sizes have been universally reduced. Meanwhile both the EVA 8 and Mozambique received minor handling speed increases to improve their viability in close quarters combat.

Hop Up Rotations and Executioner Addition

A significant shuffle in the hop up pool brings new functionality to the shotgun category. Developers introduced the new Executioner hop up specifically designed for the Peacekeeper and Mastiff. Additionally the Nemesis finally receives an update allowing it to equip the Turbocharger to reach its maximum fire rate much faster.

  • Executioner: Available on the Peacekeeper and Mastiff for 375 points. Knocking an enemy grants 50 shield regeneration over ten seconds.
  • Turbocharger: Now available on the Nemesis for 600 points allowing the weapon to become fully heated after just two bursts.
  • Dual Shell: Removed from the Mastiff.
  • Disruptor Rounds: Removed from the Peacekeeper.
  • Graffiti Mod: Removed from the Longbow DMR, Wingman, and Mozambique. It is now added to the Flatline and Volt.

Map Rotations and Wildcard Events mid season changes

Pubs and Ranked Playlists

The map rotations have been locked in for both casual and competitive play. Storm Point and World’s Edge will remain consistent fixtures across both standard and ranked playlists.

  • Pubs Rotation: Storm Point, World’s Edge, Kings Canyon.
  • Ranked Rotation: Storm Point, World’s Edge, E-District.
  • Mixtape Venues: Includes Skull Town, Thunderdome, Fragment, Zeus Station, Caustic, Production Yard, Barometer, Monument, and Wattson Pylon across TDM, Control, and Gun Run modes.

Wildcard Schedule

Following positive community reception during the Power Trip event developers have implemented weekly map rotations into the Wildcard playlist.

  • Broken Moon Wildcard: June 23 to June 30
  • Olympus Wildcard: June 30 to July 7
  • Kings Canyon Wildcard: July 7 to July 14

Ranked Matchmaking Flow Updates

Removal of the Champion Squad Screen

A major structural change to the Ranked experience is the complete removal of the Champion Squad screen from the match start flow. Players will now view their own squad screen and then immediately transition into the dropship sequence. Developers explained that the information previously provided on the Champion Squad screen was often misleading and generated unnecessary player frustration before a match even began. The team is actively developing a superior method for evaluating seasonal player skill to better represent the caliber of opponents in any given lobby.

  • Ranked Ladder 7: July 2 to July 5
  • Ranked Ladder 8: July 9 to July 12
  • Ranked Ladder 9: July 16 to July 19
  • Ranked Ladder 10: July 23 to July 26
  • Ranked Ladder 11: July 30 to August 2

System Updates and Bug Fixes

General and Weapon Fixes

The update introduces several critical fixes targeting weapon interactions and core gameplay mechanics. Bots will now correctly loot weapons a few seconds after landing rather than ignoring ground loot. Exploit corrections ensure that deathbox attachments function properly and hop up weapons are accurately restored when respawning. Gold shotgun bolts now correctly apply their fire rate increase when Double Tap Trigger is enabled and the CAR Gold magazine reliably reloads while stowed.

Legend Specific Fixes

Several legend abilities received necessary bug fixes to ensure consistent performance. Axle’s Jump Gate upgrade now properly respects movement ability keybinds and most objects can no longer be erroneously attached to her Kickstart drone. Fixes for Ballistic ensure his tactical properly affects healing enemies and Mad Maggie’s wrecking ball no longer bounces off cloaked enemies without dealing damage or knockback.

Quality of Life Audio and Graphics

Numerous adjustments were made across all maps to improve readability and gameplay flow. Out of bounds timers now trigger appropriately in popular points of interest across Storm Point, Kings Canyon, and E-District. On the engine side players can no longer exploit tree bushes using revenant climbing skills to hide from enemies. Audio improvements include an increased volume and audible radius for deathbox respawns providing better situational awareness for nearby opponents. Finally graphics updates address framerate hitching during banner cycles and decrease global bloom intensity.

These comprehensive adjustments highlight an ongoing commitment to refining the competitive landscape. Players must adapt their strategies to accommodate the revised legend mechanics and weapon balancing. The shifting meta promises a dynamic environment for both casual matches and professional tournament play.
