The Canadian initiator, benched by FURIA in July, has a verbal agreement to return to the club where his career took off.
Daniel “eeiu” Vucenovic has reached a verbal agreement to join
NRG for the 2027 VCT Americas season, Sheep Esports reports. According to the outlet’s sources, Cloud9 were also interested in the initiator, and NRG are extending head coach Malkolm “bonkar” Rench’s contract at the same time. Neither NRG nor eeiu have commented, and nothing is official.
It would be a homecoming. eeiu played for NRG from October 2020 to 2022, before the partnership league started in 2023.
A second spell six years on
eeiu started in competitive Valorant with T1 Academy in the summer of 2020 before moving to NRG that October. When NRG built a new roster for the partnership league, he joined M80 in December 2022, and the 2023 season was his breakout: M80 won the North America Challengers Split 1, the Mid-Season Face Off and the Challengers Playoffs, then lost the VCT Ascension Americas final 1-3 to The Guard.
That earned him a move to
100 Thieves in November 2023. In his first partnered season, 100 Thieves swept G2 3-0 to win VCT Americas Stage 1 2024 and finished fourth at Masters Shanghai. He was also named VCT Americas Initiator of the Year in 2024. 2025 was a weaker year for the team, and 100 Thieves let him go on 31 October 2025.
| Years | Team |
|---|---|
| 2020 | T1 Academy |
| 2020 to 2022 | NRG |
| 2022 to 2023 | M80 |
| 2023 to 2025 | 100 Thieves |
| 2025 to 2026 | FURIA |
From Kickoff champion to the bench
At
FURIA, eeiu won VCT Americas Kickoff 2026, beating MIBR 3-2 in the final. FURIA then went out 1-2 to BBL Esports in seventh to eighth place at Masters Santiago, but eeiu was the team’s best player there by some distance.
| Event | Maps | ACS | K-D | ADR | KAST |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Americas Kickoff | 13 | 175 | 169-154 | 117.6 | 74% |
| Masters Santiago | 6 | 244 | 111-83 | 166.5 | 69% |
| Americas Stage 1 | 18 | 182 | 234-251 | 120.1 | 65% |

In Santiago, his 244 ACS was 54 more than any of his teammates. Stage 1 ended in seventh to eighth place, and after one series in Stage 2, a 1-2 loss to LEVIATÁN, FURIA moved him to the inactive roster on 19 July and brought in
Corbin “C0M” Lee. eeiu played down talk of a falling-out on X the next day.
FURIA will not be in the 2027 league either way. The Brazilian organisation missed out on a VCT partnership on 19 October, and on Friday evening it announced in a statement that it will not compete in mixed Valorant in 2027. Its players and staff become free on 2 November.
What NRG are building
NRG won Champions 2025, beating Fnatic 3-2 in the Paris final. 2026 brought third place at Masters Santiago, second at the Esports World Cup after a 1-3 final against 100 Thieves, and a fifth to sixth finish at Champions 2026, where 100 Thieves knocked them out again. The club’s place in the league is secure: NRG were one of the partner teams Riot confirmed for 2027, on a two-year deal.
The first change came straight after Champions.
Georgio “keiko” Sanassy wrote on 21 October that NRG had told him he would not continue, and that he can look for a new team as a restricted free agent.
That leaves four players on NRG’s active roster:
| Player | Joined NRG |
|---|---|
| Ethan “Ethan” Arnold | December 2023 |
| Adam “mada” Pampuch | October 2024 |
| Brock “brawk” Somerhalder | February 2025 |
| Logan “skuba” Jenkins | May 2025 |

If the report holds, eeiu would make five. Most 2026 contracts run out on 2 November, when the transfer window opens, so any announcement could come soon after.
eeiu is the second big name Sheep Esports linked to a new team on Friday. Earlier the same evening, the outlet reported that Boaster is set to join Gentle Mates in VCT EMEA.
