Stage 3 of IEM Cologne Major set for best-of-three opening round

The Intel Extreme Masters Cologne Major advances to Stage 3 on Thursday, introducing a format change where every series leading up to the best-of-five Grand Final will be played as a best-of-three. With the official play times now confirmed, the 16 remaining teams are locked into their opening fixtures.

Early matches hold immediate consequences for Pick’ems

The opening day tomorrow begins at 11:00 CEST with two simultaneous series. PARIVISION meets 9z, while The MongolZ take on BetBoom. These first matches carry direct implications for our Pick’ems, specifically for those who selected both PARIVISION and The MongolZ to finish with a 0-3 record in this stage.

Defending champions and family ties

At 13:30 CEST, reigning Major champions Vitality step onto the server to start their run against FUT. In the parallel broadcast, MOUZ will compete against Legacy.

The afternoon schedule at 16:00 CEST delivers a high-profile series between Falcons and G2. This fixture pits the Kovac cousins, NiKo and huNter, against each other in a direct server rivalry. At the exact same time, FURIA will face B8.

Heavyweights close out the first day

The first round of Stage 3 concludes at 18:30 CEST with the most anticipated matchup of Thursday’s schedule. Natus Vincere and Spirit will face off in a clash between two of the highest-rated rosters at the event. Simultaneously, Aurora and Monte will play their series to finalize the opening day results.
