G2 and 9z qualify for Stage 3 at IEM Cologne following decisive sweeps

G2 Esports secured their spot in the next phase of the tournament after defeating the German organization BIG 2-0. The European roster controlled the pace across both maps, securing a 13-3 victory on Inferno and a 13-8 win on Mirage.

Guy “NertZ” Iluz led the server with a 1.85 rating and a 39-18 kill-death score. The rifler consistently found opening duels and anchored defensive setups, denying BIG any significant map control. The victory allows G2 to recover from their previous loss against FUT Esports and move directly into the top 16.

With this defeat, BIG falls to the 2-2 elimination bracket. The German team must win their final qualification series to advance to Stage 3, where spectators will be permitted inside the arena.

South American squad 9z sweep TYLOO

In the other 2-1 pool match, 9z defeated TYLOO in a clean two-map series to claim their Stage 3 ticket. The South American roster opened the series on Overpass, stringing together seven consecutive rounds on their offensive half. Matias “HUASOPEEK” Ibañez Hernandez and Luciano “luchov” Herrera found early advantages that kept the Chinese squad from establishing an economic baseline.

The series concluded on Inferno. TYLOO managed to win the opening pistol round and secure a brief lead, but 9z quickly adjusted their defensive holds. Ignacio “meyern” Meyer provided key sniper eliminations to shift the momentum, allowing the South American team to close out the map and finalize the 2-0 result. TYLOO now joins BIG in the 2-2 pool for a final chance at qualification.
