G2 Esports has announced the removal of Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa from their active Counter-Strike 2 roster.
The organization confirmed the roster change via Twitter, posting a farewell video accompanied by the statement: “Our doctor is changing hospitals. Thank you for the trophies, immaculate vibes, and all the successful lobotomies, malbsMd. We wish you the best of luck in the future.”

Following the organization’s announcement, Samayoa addressed his departure and hinted at his next move in a statement on Twitter:
Time to say good bye but things ain’t done yet, glad I got to play under this banner and achieve 3 events and top20 of 2024, not gonna lie, I’ll miss the oldest mf @G2huNter but that’s just life I guess – see ya on the server and see ya on an announcement later today! Recent Team and Player Performance
This roster update follows consecutive group-stage exits for G2 Esports at PGL Cluj-Napoca and ESL Pro League Season 23.
Individually, malbsMd was named the 12th best player of 2024 following his initial tenure with G2. His performance metrics have shifted since taking on a different role following the departure of Nikola “NiKo” Kovač. After recording a 1.13 rating in 2024, his rating averaged 1.05 throughout 2025. In the first quarter of 2026, his rating stands at 1.02.
Reported Roster Trade Rumors
While G2 has not confirmed malbsMd’s next team, rumors regarding a potential trade have been reported. On the Talking Counter podcast, Chad “SPUNJ” Burchill noted a rumor suggesting a swap deal between G2 Esports and Team Liquid. Under this reported arrangement, malbsMd would trade places with Guy “NertZ” Iluz. If finalized, this move would allow Team Liquid to re-enter the Americas Valve Regional Standings (VRS).
Upcoming Schedule
G2 Esports is scheduled to attend the upcoming BC.Game Masters. This event will allow the team to play five official matches with their new, currently unannounced, fifth player.
