PARIVISION denied FUT their dream, as NAVI and Aurora cruised to playoffs.
Astralis gives up 10-2 lead
After losing their map pick of Overpass 7-13, Astralis had the chance to return the favor to Aurora. They were up 10-2 after Victor ‘Staehr’ Staehr feasted on Aurora with a 21-4 scoreline on the CT side.
However, it all started to fall apart for Astralis. Staehr, Gytis ‘ryu’ Glušauskas and Love ‘phzy’ Smidebrant had 7 kills between them in the whole terrorist side, with the Bulgarian having none.
That was simply not enough to dispatch of a team like Aurora, who set up a wall on the CT-side. It started with Özgür ‘woxic’ Eker, who got them a crucial second terrorist round. Then, everybody starting contributing to the domination of Astralis to close the map 13-11 after trailing 2-10.
PARIVISION outlasts FUT
Despite a “positive” run here, Laurențiu ‘lauNX’ Țârleawas was nearly in tears after failing to make the playoffs of his home event. FUT had multiple chances to get over the line, but choked in the crucial moments, as lauNX said himself.
PARIVISION won a Dust2 that went to overtime, one of the maps of the tournament. FUT won their Mirage pick, but could not keep up with PARIVISION by the end of the decider, Ancient.
lauNX himself was the top-rated player of the series, garnering 65 kills over three maps.
iM makes it to home crowd playoffs
NAVI corrected FUT’s earlier mistake, by placing their Romanian rifler, Mihai ‘iM’ Ivan in the playoffs of his home crowd.
It wasn’t an easy match for NAVI, as G2 built up huge leads. In the second map, they were up 9-3. That lead went away just as fast as it came, as NAVI won 10 rounds in a row to make the playoffs in almost spotless fashion.
G2’s coach spoke afterwards about G2’s failures coming down to small inconsistencies.
