mzinho: “It’s not surprising that we made it to the playoffs”

The MongolZ have surprised many by qualifying for the Budapest Major playoffs after losing their star player Senzu indefinitely. In his place they took Mongolian rifler controlez as a stand-in and went through the swiss stage 3-1 beating Liquid, FaZe and G2.

On the latest episode of All About CS with James Banks and Devilwalk, mzinho says that the team is not surprised that they made the playoffs.

“It’s not surprising that we made it to the playoffs. We prepared well for the tournament.”

mzinho’s reasoning is rather simple: we’re a team, not just 1 star player and 4 randoms.

“People are talking like it’s a 1 man army. It’s a team game. No Senzu, but we still have 910, bLitz, Techno and me.”

The decision from Senzu came as a shock to many and the Mongolian team who came 2nd at the BLAST Austin Major had to scramble to find a replacement before the roster lock.

“I think Senzu told us that he doesn’t want to play at the moment. It was a week before the roster lock. It was a last moment decision.

Other than controlez the team also tried to contact players who were on the bench, mzinho reveals.

“We tried to contact magixx and jL.”
