Early explorations of Reyna: rare concept art shows how the agent nearly looked

A newly surfaced batch of early Reyna concept art gives Valorant fans a rare look at how the iconic duelist was originally explored during development. The illustrations reveal alternate hairstyles, costume variations, and even different visual interpretations of her soul harvesting powers before Riot finalized her design.

These concept pieces offer a fascinating glimpse into the creative process behind one of Valorant’s most recognizable agents.

How Reyna’s design evolved during development

Reyna’s final look is defined by her sharp confidence, purple color palette, and soul infused arm. But during early explorations, Riot experimented with multiple directions. The concept sheet shows several possible silhouettes and faces, ranging from sleek and elegant to more aggressive or rebellious.

Across these versions, designers tested how Reyna’s personality could be expressed through hair shape, eye stylings, and the glow of her abilities. The early sketches balance her vampiric energy with the grounded realism of Valorant’s visual style.

Alternate faces and hairstyles considered for Reyna

The concept sheet includes six different head variations labeled A through F. Each one highlights a unique thematic angle Riot explored.

Version A

Long silver hair with softer facial features, leaning into a mysterious and ethereal look.

Version B

A short pink hairstyle paired with an eye patch, hinting at a more battle scarred and hardened Reyna.

Version C

A blonde variant with sharper features and a more tactical appearance.

Version D

A red, partially shaved hairstyle that pushes Reyna toward a more rebellious and aggressive identity.

Version E

The most familiar version, showcasing the iconic pink hair that influenced her final direction.

Version F

A dual tone silver and lavender hairstyle blending elegance with edge.

These variations demonstrate how Riot tested multiple personality cues before arriving at the Reyna fans recognize today.

Early outfit and ability effects

The full body concept shows Reyna wearing darker armor plating and a more angular silhouette. Her corrupted arm is highly emphasized, featuring stronger glowing effects and a more demonic influence than the final version.

Designers also explored how the glowing energy from collectable souls should look when channelled through her abilities.

Why these concepts matter to fans

Early concept art like this sheds light on how much iteration and experimentation goes into shaping an agent. Reyna’s personality, color identity, and visual flair were crafted over many stages before being finalized. For lore fans and artistic enthusiasts, these behind the scenes pieces help deepen appreciation for the creative work behind Valorant’s cast.
