REZ after eliminating Rare Atom: “I think we really needed this one for the mental”

GamerLegion stay alive at the Budapest Major as REZ delivers a huge rebound performance to eliminate Rare Atom and push his team into the 1-2 bracket.

GamerLegion and REZ eliminated Rare Atom at the StarLadder Budapest Major after closing out a crucial 2-0 series. The European roster survives another day in Budapest and now move into the 1-2 bracket after a rough opening day that left them fighting for their tournament lives.

GamerLegion had dropped both of their best-of-one matches on Day 1 to RED Canids and Fluxo, two opponents many expected them to beat. That made today’s match against Rare Atom a must-win for both survival and momentum.

A relieved REZ

For REZ, the series was something of a personal redemption arc. After finishing as one of the lowest-rated players on Day 1, he delivered exactly when his team needed him most.

“I had a really rough start in this event in the Bo1s, so I’m happy I could bring it back in this one.”

REZ did far more than simply “bring it back.” The Swedish rifler ended as the highest-rated player in the entire series with a 1.47 rating, including an incredible 1.92 performance on Overpass. His resurgence helped stabilize the team and gave GamerLegion the spark they were missing on Day 1.

The players knew this was not just another match, but a psychological reset after a brutal start.

“We had a lot of talk about the best of ones. I think we really needed this one for the mental.”

Even with the win, GamerLegion’s tournament path remains challenging. Their next opponent in the 1-2 bracket is still unknown, but REZ made it clear that the team are focused only on improving with each match rather than worrying about the matchup.

“We don’t really care about the opponents at this point, we just want to play best of threes and the maps we are comfortable on.”

For now, GamerLegion stay alive in Budapest. With REZ heating up and the team settling back into form, the next elimination match could define how far they can actually go.
