Team Vitality suffered a rare series loss today at the hands of theMongolZ, the #4 team in the world per the VRS. It was in 2-0 fashion, where the Mongolians picked up their first series win against Vitality after 9 attempts this year.

In the post-game, Dan ‘apEX’ Madesclaire, Vitality’s captain, said that since Cologne, the team had been playing “a bit less good” compared to their stellar first half of the year.

Vitality won the Major and the Intel Grand Slam without dropping a full series for 37 matches in a row. Now, they have fallen twice, to MOUZ and TheMongolZ, and have not lifted a trophy yet.

Azbayar ‘Senzu’ Munkhbold and Usukhbayar ‘910’ Banzragch were crucial in securing the victory, with the former achieving the highest rating of 1.44 and the latter the most kills with 42 over two maps.

Mirage was a straightforward affair for TheMongolZ, with 910 and Senzu putting up a clinic on CT-side.

However, Vitality’s pick of Inferno came down to the wire: a missed AWP shot from Mathieu ‘ZywOo’ Herbaut on a crouching Garidmagnai ‘bLitz’ Byambasuren to give the Mongolians match point.

Tomorrow will be TheMongolZ’s first grand final appearance since the BLAST Austin Major and their second overall. It will be their first time facing Team Spirit at the final of a tournament.
