Recently benched Boris “magixx” Vorobiev, joined the HLTV Confirmed podcast to discuss his removal from the lineup and his plans moving forward.
The 22-year-old rifler, who had been with Spirit since 2019, admitted that the decision to drop him didn’t come as a surprise.
“We were losing and weren’t a top 3 team for half a year,” magixx said. “It was pretty expected.”
Magixx had been part of Spirit’s roster through multiple rebuilds and played a big part in tournament wins. However, results had been inconsistent in recent months, and Spirit’s form dipped despite high expectations around the young core led by star rifler Danil “donk” Kryshkovets.
Just weeks after magixx was moved to the bench, Team Spirit won IEM Cologne 2025, defeating MOUZ in the grand final. The team’s updated roster included Ivan “zweih” Gogin, who was brought in from Nemiga as part of the lineup changes. While Spirit had already picked up a title earlier in the year at BLAST Bounty Season 1, Cologne marked a clear return to top form.
“There’s a core in a team: in-game leader, AWPer, and donk,” magixx said during the podcast. “You can always change the last two players, because they don’t affect the team as much.”
What does the future hold?
Despite the setback, magixx made it clear that he is still motivated to compete at the highest level. However, he doesn’t expect to make a return before the upcoming Major cycle concludes.
“I’m looking for any offers coming my way,” he said. “But I don’t think there will be any before after the Major.”
For now, the former Spirit rifler will be watching from the sidelines, waiting to see how the post-Major shuffle unfolds.
