100 Thieves have officially announced their return to professionel Counter-Strike under the name 100 Thieves Roobet.
The comeback has been rumored for a while and with Dust2.dk recently reporting that the organization had signed veteran Håvard “rain” Nygaard, it seemed to be inevitable – and here we are.
The rest of the roster has not been announced, and while many speculated that he was signed as a content creator, this announcement debunks that rumor.
In the announcement Jacob Toft-Andersen, President of 100 Thieves, says this:
“Counter-Strike has always been a cornerstone of esports, and CS2 has sparked new energy worldwide. Europe is at the center of that community, and by establishing a permanent home there, we’re committing to doing this the right way and with Roobet as a partner, we’re building something our fans can be proud of.”
A mixed history
100 Thieves first Counter-Strike roster was all the way back in 2017 when they signed the former Immortals roster, but the players never played a game for the American organization before ending their partnership.
They returned in 2019 with a roster consisting of Gratisfaction, jkaem, jks, Liazz and AZR.
And while they did get some decent results like 2nd at IEM Beijing, ESL Pro League NA and IEM New York NA, they were quickly removed from the team again in October 2020.
