Falcons’ journey at the BLAST.tv Austin Major came to an early and disappointing end this evening. The Saudi-backed squad were eliminated on Sunday following a narrow 1-2 loss to MIBR — a result that caps off a horrendous run in Texas.
Speaking to Pley after the match, René “TeSeS” Madsen pointed to potential off-server distractions as part of the reason behind their poor showing.
– It’s hard to say. I think many things outside the server has maybe affected us a bit. But in the end that should not matter, and we have to do better than this.
– It’s a bad feeling. We didn’t do good enough, even though we had our chances. We just didn’t show up.
In recent weeks, Falcons have been surrounded by speculation regarding a possible roster change involving Spirit’s rising star Maxim “kyousuke” Lukin. Whether this is what TeSeS was alluding to remains unclear.
Major was the main objective
In the interview, TeSeS made it clear that no result can make up for failing at the one event that truly matters
– Everyone on this team wants to win a Major and that’s the main objective. So ending it like this is the biggest disappointing you can get. But if you look at the semifinal and final runs that we did so quickly with m0NESY – that’s good – but it does not make this better.
TeSeS also briefly touched on the crucial 5v3 round that Falcons lost on match point — a turning point that helped MIBR turn the series around.
– It’s crazy to lose that round. Obviously, that shouldn’t happen, TeSeS told Pley.
