After surviving three consecutive elimination matches in Stage 3, MOUZ have now booked a spot in the semifinals at the Austin Major.
A truly remarkable comeback by Ludvig “brollan” Brolin and his squad, having one foot out of the tournament.
The decisive victory came against Spirit in a thrilling quarterfinal last night, which was MOUZ’s third win versus the strong CIS team this year.
After the match, we caught up with MOUZ head coach Dennis “sycrone” Nielsen for a chat.
– They are a pretty good matchup for us. Once these two teams go at each other, we get some amazing Counter-Strike. I also hope that the fans thought that today, sycrone said.
He continued:
– I think this is a confirmation that we’re very competitive and that we have grown a lot also on the stage environment. There will be no game, where we are just going to give it to someone. We will always put up a fight, and if you want to beat us, you have to bring your A-game.
“Unfair advantage”
With the win, MOUZ now have a day off on Friday before facing the winner of Vitality vs. NAVI in the semifinals. Their upcoming opponent, however, won’t have the same luxury, as their quarterfinal is scheduled for later today.
According to sycrone, that rest day is clearly an advantage and not something that should exist in the first place.
– It’s an advantage to have an off day. You can recuperate some strength and energy, and you can spend more time looking at the game, preparing. Also on the back end, we knew it was an advantage, and it’s unfair.
– I have told that to BLAST straight up, and that it shouldn’t be this way. Look at the Major in Copenhagen, here the same side of bracket play on the same day. That’s equal for both teams, but they decided not to do it this time.
