The biggest talking point of the off-season was, without a doubt, the transfer saga surrounding G2’s star duo, Nikola “NiKo” Kovač and Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov.

Heavy speculation linked the superstars to Falcons, with the Saudi-backed organization reportedly aiming to build a new juggernaut squad.

In the end, only NiKo made the switch, joining Danny “zonic” Sørensen’s ambitious project, while m0NESY stayed with G2.

In an interview with Pley.gg, m0NESY briefly addressed the rumors, though he refrained from revealing too much. The Russian AWPer confirmed that a move to Falcons was “not close.”

– It was not close, m0NESY said when asked about his alleged transfer to Falcons before the season.
