“When it happens so often it is really embarrassing”: NiKo criticizes overly aggressive mistakes

Following a crushing 2-1 defeat to PARIVISION that knocked Team Falcons out of the PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 Quarter-Finals, Nikola "NiKo" Kovač vented his frustrations in a post-match arena interview with James Banks.

Following a crushing 2-1 defeat to PARIVISION that knocked Team Falcons out of the PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 Quarter-Finals, Nikola “NiKo” Kovač vented his frustrations in a post-match arena interview with James Banks. The star rifler pointed directly at undisciplined, overly aggressive plays as the root cause of the team’s ongoing struggles to capture another trophy.

“It’s a huge disappointment losing in this fashion,” NiKo told Banks on stage. “We know that we have players that are aggressive and likes to peek, but we have to minimize those things to a minimum if you want to win. We have a team where we can afford mistakes, and it’s fine if it happens once per game, but when it happens so often it is really embarrassing.”

“I’m very, very frustrated about how we played”

While NiKo did not name names, the criticism felt pointed. From a spectator’s perspective, the frustration seemed noticeably directed at the team’s young Russian entry fragger, kyousuke, and potentially parts of TeSeS’s aggressive pushes. The 18-year-old kyousuke had a notably subpar performance on the server against PARIVISION, recording a negative opening duel differential with 9 opening kills to 11 opening deaths (-2) and a low KAST of just 63.4%.

“I think it is noticeable that we are just making wrong steps,” NiKo continued. “Sometimes we want to finish the round too soon, take a duel too soon, sometimes we don’t take a duel, where we are supposed to take a duel. We are just bad. We are not winning the rounds we are supposed to win. No excuses. I’m very, very frustrated about how we played.”

The loss to PARIVISION is a familiar sting for the Saudi-backed roster. The very same team recently denied Falcons a title at the BLAST Bounty 2026 Season 1 Finals. Despite heavy backing and immense expectations to consistently challenge Spirit and Vitality for titles, Falcons have struggled to secure tournament wins since their triumph in Romania over a year ago.

Results are needed

“It’s a very hard situation to tackle right now, and obviously we don’t have the right answer,” NiKo admitted. “We have to look deep into this, and we know that it has been a quite disappointing season so far, and we know that we have to do better. I really thought this event could be the event where we took the next step.”

With the 2026 season well underway, the clock is ticking for the star-studded roster to live up to its billing. “We need results and we know it,” concluded NiKo.
