Day 1 of the Elimination Stage at the Perfect World Shanghai Major is done and dusted. The day saw multiple upsets with FURIA’s 13-6 win against Spirit and The MongolZ’s win against G2 as the biggest surprises of the first round.
Later in the day NAVI also had to take a defeat at the hands of the Brazilians from MIBR, who is now 2-0 up. FaZe also suffered a defeat on Day 1, as the star-studded roster lost against Heroic.
The perhaps biggest story of the day was The MongolZ, who took down G2 and MOUZ on day 1. A superb start to the Elimination Stage for the only Asian side in this stage of the tournament, and also a historic one. The two victories in the Elimination Stage are already enough to make them the best Asian team in history at a Major.
