Liquid’s struggles continue, with the squad exiting yet another tournament early. This time, they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Vitality at the BLAST Premier World Final, extending their streak without a best-of-three win for over a month.
Following the loss, a visibly frustrated Liquid captain, Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken, spoke with James Banks and BLAST, candidly addressing the team’s performance and mindset.
– It’s a fucking disappointment, this series. We had no connection at all on the CT-side on Dust2 – just a lot of individual players who were saying: “I’m gonna do this”, and then me saying: “we could do this.” Maybe it’s bad leadership from me. But typically, CT-side is a team effort, so it’s disheartening when people are not playing for each other 100% – and you can feel it, Twistzz said and continued:
– I feel like that carried on to Nuke. And obviously, the game is not going to be easy if you’re scared to play – like anyone that’s scared to play, the game is immediately not in your favor. (…) I don’t want to say that we’re not clicking [as a team], because we’re playing really good in practice. It just sucks that we cannot replicate our results in practice.
