Big stage troubles
The only tournament MOUZ have won in 2025 is PGL Cluj-Napoca, a field that did not include Vitality, Team Spirit, or The MongolZ, and the first event after Spinx arrived in place of siuhy.
Sycrone admits the team have struggled on the biggest stages, and that it remains a focus.
“We have some shortcomings in the big games, whether that is individual, team play, mental game, or how we connect tactically in the moment.”
The largest change for MOUZ from 2024 to 2025 is Spinx. The star rifler joined from Vitality and, according to sycrone, made an instant impact.
“We added a more experienced player [Spinx] and I think we gained from that instantly.”
Since the win in Cluj-Napoca, results have plateaued. Many teams would happily take a trophy in a year dominated by Vitality and Spirit, but MOUZ set a higher bar. They have reached the final or semifinal at nine marquee events, including the Austin Major, IEM Cologne, and ESL Pro League, yet have only one title to show for it. For sycrone, the base is there, the next step is still ahead.
“We have a solid structure and system that is consistent […] now it is about taking the next step.”
Consistent progress
A team like MOUZ will be disappointed not to have converted more finals. Losing a final like in IEM Cologne to Spirit, who had just made a roster change, could dent confidence, yet sycrone point to steady growth.
“Sometimes we get stressed and things do not come together. We are working on that.”
The Danish coach sees progress both in the collective and in individuals.
“I think xertioN has developed tremendously as a secondary leader, and as a strong caller on the CT side.”
“We are more mature and better on stage.”
The expectation remains silverware.
“You should care if you do not win or make a final, but we need to stay patient and stay true to the work and the progress.”
