Two different professional players on opposing teams complained about the conditions under which a deciding match was played, impacting the Valve Regional Ranking (VRS).
The CS Asia Championships (CAC) 2025 is a LAN tournament to be held in Shanghai, China on October 14th to 19th with a $1,000,000 prize pool. The last edition was held in 2023, a tournament claimed by FaZe at the dawn of CS2. Perfect World, the organizer of the event, held the European Open Qualifier over the course of August 10th-11th.
One of the qualifying matches, deciding which team would fly to Shanghai in October, had international squad GamerLegion facing the German-majority team BIG. GamerLegion came out with a 2-1 victory to qualify for the event, according to the HLTV matchpage.
After the match, Jon ‘JDC’ De Castro of BIG complained on X about the anti-cheat causing multiple disconnects from the game, leading to a poor individual performance on the third and deciding map of Inferno.
Frederik ‘REZ’ Sterner also spoke negatively on X minutes before De Castro about the anti-cheat after the match, despite coming out with the win.
According to the sign-up page for the qualifier, the anti-cheat in question is the Esportal anti-cheat.
Given that VRS points are based on prize pool of tournaments, CAC 2025 is likely to impact which teams will be able to attend Stage 2 or 3 of the Major, or the event itself.
As of August 12th, we have reached out to Perfect World for comment on the situation.
