paiN win Brazilian brawl to book semifinal ticket

Biguzera and his team continue their magical Major run in Austin.

paiN are through to the semifinals of the BLAST.tv Austin Major after taking down FURIA 2-1 in an all-Brazilian quarterfinal.

The match was loaded with tension and pressure, with both sides fighting for their first Major playoff win in the current lineup. In the end, it was paiN who came out on top after closing out the decider Inferno in overtime.

FURIA opened strong on Nuke, taking their opponent’s pick 13–6 behind a solid T-side. But paiN struck back immediately.

On Anubis, FURIA’s own pick, paiN built a strong early lead and managed to close it out 13–8, tying the series at 1-1.

The deciding map Inferno lived up to the hype. After an even back-and-forth in regulation, it went to overtime where paiN edged out the final rounds to seal a 16–12 win and knock out one of the most in-form teams of the tournament.

First Major semifinal

This result marks a huge milestone for paiN, who now advance to their first Major semifinal, where they’ll face the winner of FaZe vs. The MongolZ for a shot at the grand final.

It also ends FURIA’s impressive run in Austin, which included a 3-0 Stage 3 campaign and a long-awaited return to the playoffs.
