paiN reach BLAST Rivals semi-final

They easily defeated Passion UA 2-0 to set up a rematch with FURIA.

They easily defeated Passion UA 2-0 to set up a rematch with FURIA.

paiN Gaming will face FURIA in the semi-final of the tournament tomorrow, in one of the most contested matchups of the year. paiN broke FURIA‘s hearts at the BLAST Austin Major quarterfinal, but since then FURIA has won three tournaments, defeated paiN at this one in a close three map series.

Passion UA started off their tournament by upsetting TheMongolZ, and losing a cloe series against Falcons. paiN came in after losing to FURIA but beating TYLOO.

paiN run away with Nuke

The series started on Nuke, paiN’s map pick, where they got to an 8-4 start on the T-side. The game was initially competitive, until the mid point of the half, when paiN ran away with it.

The map win was a team-wide effort, with three players reaching a 1.40+ rating. paiN’s turnaround at this event coincides with role changes applied to snow, their young rifler who switched from lurker to aggressor.

Passion UA’s T side fell apart immedaitely, as paiN closed out the map 13-4.

paiN close out Inferno cleanly

Passion UA did not get to play much in this series as paiN looked indomitable. Again in a team-wide effort, this time it was the Ururguayan dgt to step up and dominate the NA team.

Passion UA mustered 5 T rounds at the start, but struggled heavily against paiN’s offense in the second half. Nobody on Passion UA matched up to paiN’s individuals, as they were getting outcalled as well.

T.c., Passion UA’s captain, in the post match said that that they rested too much on their laurels and gave paiN too much freedom.

In a team effort where the captain was the highest-rated player overall, paiN move on to make another deep run this year.
