FlyQuest‘s euphoria after eliminating Team Liquid from the Major did not last long – only two days. After losses to 9Z and Legacy on Day one, they got schooled by paiN over two maps the next day.

jks: “It’s been a disappointing season”

After the “disappointing” loss, jks talked about the final round of the series and blamed himself, where FlyQuest blocked each other from entering the A-site on Anubis.

I [messed up] my smoke but we still went through, and we got sandwiched.

FlyQuest were frequently caught out of position on their T-side Anubis, the best half they had the whole series. The Australian player and Cologne winner in 2023 said that it came down to nerves.

At the start we were a bit jittery; we had a slow start on Anubis.

He also criticized FlyQuest’s whole season, depsite not having that much practice.

I wanted to show a better face in Stage 2, even though there are some very good teams here.

paiN was the superior team on Nuke

paiN Gaming had the much superior teamplay throughout both maps, showed by their trade efficiency compared to FlyQuest.

According to Refrag’s stats, FlyQuest failed to trade each other’s deaths a whopping 19 times just on Nuke, compared to paiN who only did so eight times.

Anubis came down to the wire

paiN had a great start to Anubis which gave them a huge advantage to work with. FlyQuest simply could not suppress paiN’s T-side, which was finding openings and trading effectively.

The second half got a lot more dicey for the Brazilians. A key play from piriajr in Round 17 turned the match when FlyQuest gained momentum. He waited in the mid smoke, and FlyQuest all went past him, allowing piriajr to find a 3k with the Deagle.

Ultimately, FlyQuest made a good effort on the T-side at the end but are out of the Cologne Major. paiN Gaming get to a 1-2 record, now having two win two consecutive matches to reach Stage 3.
