Monte bounce back in Cologne with dominant Inferno performance against Parivision

Following opening-round defeats for both teams at the IEM Cologne Major, Monte and Parivision faced off to avoid a critical tournament deficit. A completely one-sided third map allowed Monte to secure a 2-1 series victory, evening their record at 1-1, while Parivision drop to 0-2 and face immediate elimination.

Parivision take the lead on Mirage

The series opened on Mirage, selected by Monte. While early rounds were closely contested, Parivision established complete control once their defensive economy stabilized. Backed by strong individual performances from xiELO and nota, both of whom averaged over 100 average damage per round in the first half, Parivision secured a substantial 10-2 lead at the break.

Monte responded by winning the second-half pistol round, putting together a five-round streak to close the deficit to 7-10. Parivision halted the comeback momentum by winning two consecutive 1v1 clutch situations. The Russian squad then finalized their victory on the opening map via a fast execution into the B bombsite, taking it 13-7.

Monte answer back on Ancient

Ancient was the choice of Parivision, who secured the initial pistol round. Monte responded immediately, winning six consecutive rounds to establish an 8-4 advantage by halftime. Monte extended their lead by winning the second-half pistol round, but Parivision mounted a steady recovery on their offensive side.

Parivision closed the gap to 9-10, bringing the map to a critical juncture where Monte possessed a full economy. Monte executed an assault on the A bombsite that Parivision failed to counter. This round win allowed Monte to break Parivision’s economy and secure the map 13-9.

A blowout on Inferno secures the series

The decider map of Inferno quickly turned into a rout. Starting on the T side, Monte won the pistol round and built a rapid 6-0 lead. Parivision struggled significantly with team coordination, consistently failing to convert multiple retake situations. Even in a round where Jack “Gizmy” von Spreckelsen accidentally reloaded instead of drawing his knife against Ivan “zweih” Gogin, Monte still managed to secure the kill, illustrating the lack of cohesion from Parivision.

Monte finished the first half with a dominant 11-1 lead. Monte won the pistol round, and had the opportunity to close down the match in a 5vs2 situation, but somehow failed to convert that to a win. PARIVISION snatched a couple of rounds before they crumpled in an eco round. Monte won 13-5.

With this result, Monte progress to the 1-1 Swiss pool in Cologne and await their next opponent. Parivision must prepare for an elimination match tomorrow.
