malbsMd explains why G2 missed PGL Cluj-Napoca

The profiled squad has dropped out of Top 5 on Valve's global ranking.

The newly concluded PGL Cluj-Napoca wrapped up last week, with the youngsters of MOUZ grabbing the trophy in Romania.

One of the major talking points of the $1 million event was the absence of several top teams in Spirit, NAVI, Vitality, and G2 all opting out.

G2 rifler explains

Until now, little had been revealed about why these powerhouses skipped the tournament. However, G2’s star rifler, Mario “malbsMd” Samoya, has now shed light on the team’s decision.

And, as is often the case in competitive Counter-Strike, the reason boiled down to visas.

– We decided to skip the tournament because we had to get some visas – not EU visas, but for the United States. Something we had to do, malbsMd explained on the latest episode of HLTV Confirmed.

Out of Top 5

While MOUZ celebrated their PGL Cluj-Napoca victory, G2 paid the price for their absence, slipping two spots in Valve’s global ranking.

malbsMd and company now sit at #7 as they fall out of Top 5, now trailing behind Falcons, FaZe, and The MongolZ.

G2 and the rest of the Counter-Strike elite will return to action next week when ESL Pro League Season 21 is set to kick off in Stockholm, Sweden.
