On Monday, professional CS2 player Joakim “jkaem” Myrbostad was publicly accused of scamming a community member out of Counter-Strike skins valued at up to $11,000 USD.
The accusation, made by a Twitter user named erlsan, quickly gained traction. According to erlsan, jkaem borrowed the skins in March 2023 to use during the BLAST Paris Major, but never returned them. After months of broken promises and stalled communication, erlsan decided to make the case public.
jkaem responds
Less than two hours after the tweets were posted, jkaem responded with a statement on X, where he admitted to his wrongdoing and said he would take full responsibility for the situation – and revealed that this wasn’t an isolated incident.
– I don’t have any excuses. I fucked up bad and there is more than one case. I will pay back everything to everyone I owe money/skins. I was an idiot honestly. I take full responsibility and I own my mistakes, jkaem wrote.
“Hitting rock bottom”
In his post, jkaem shared that he is now working with his current team, BC.Game, to take accountability and repay those he has wronged.
– Together with BC team we are sitting down and taking this very serious. They want to help me fix the damage I have caused to everyone involved. I am being honest and open with them about my issues and how we have ended here.
– I want to say sorry to everyone that I have taken advantage of. I am 100% in the wrong here and I have to stand in my own mess. As hard as this is, I’m grateful it’s out in the open. Sometimes you need to hit the bottom to really see who’s there for you, and I’m lucky to have people helping me clean this up and move forward, jkaem concludes.
The story short
In March 2023, Twitter user Magnus (@erlsan) lent pro player Joakim “jkaem” Myrbostad a set of CS:GO skins—now valued at around $11,000—to use during the BLAST Paris Major. Over the following year, erlsan says jkaem failed to return the items and offered repeated excuses, lies, and false promises of repayment or replacement.
erlsan claims that jkaem misled him for months, ghosted him at times, and even suggested he had bought upgraded skins as compensation—though they were never delivered.
After setting a final deadline in March 2025, erlsan received only a small partial repayment. Frustrated by the lack of progress, he went public with the story.
Community figure zipel confirmed he had privately contacted jkaem to help resolve the matter, but noted that the issue appears to be part of a broader pattern:
– The fact that he only paid a small amount back after a risk of it going public speaks for itself. It seems as if he is tangled up in a lot more than just this, zipeL wrote.
