Jason “JBOEN” Nielsen joined FaZe on loan during the summer break to replace broky. The Danish AWP player has recorded a 1.13 rating across his first 30 maps in Counter-Strike 2. Following a 2-0 defeat to Vitality in the Round of 16, JBOEN spoke about the team’s performance and his sudden transition to a top organization.
Utility errors and preparation gaps on Cache
FaZe fell 13-11 on Vitality’s map pick of Dust2 before suffering a heavy defeat on Cache. JBOEN attributed the loss on the second map to a lack of recent official matches, which allowed Vitality to study and counter their setups.
We were the best Cache team in the world I would say, like setwise and also like how many wins we got. So they have like all the rounds they can go anti-strat, do all the prep they need. So they just demolished us, to be honest,” JBOEN explained.
He also highlighted execution errors on the server, specifically pointing to utility usage on the T side.
Sometimes we just needed like one flash drop. Like I die three or four times to A site because we don’t drop a flash, or just flash him off if another guy has a flash. It’s the small details that messed us up today,” he said.
Moving into tier one Counter-Strike
The transfer to FaZe was sudden for the BIG Academy player, who was evaluating other options before the opportunity arose. JBOEN acknowledged that he was not the initial target for the roster change.
They had some other players they wanted besides me. Also, I was like I think second or third priority for the team, but they end up picking me because of some things, and I think I did a really good job so far,” JBOEN stated.
JBOEN remains confident in his abilities against top opposition. He noted that the environment among professional players at top events is welcoming, pointing to veterans like Twistzz and frozen as teammates who have positively surprised him in the practice rooms.
I feel like I belong here, to be honest,” JBOEN said. “Even when I was younger, I used to watch the streams or games. I also remember that I was a big Twistzz fanboy back in the day.
FaZe is next set to participate at the FISSURE Playground 3 tournament starting on the 8th of September.
