After a brief break, IEM Katowice resumes this Friday as the tournament moves into its highly anticipated playoff stage. The $1 million event now enters the iconic Spodek Arena, where six teams remain in contention for the title.
The quarterfinals will open with a matchup between two of the biggest rising teams in Counter-Strike – The MongolZ and Eternal Fire.
Later, a CIS clash between Virtus.pro and the defending IEM Katowice champions from Spirit will determine another semifinalist. Virtus.pro, however, will be without their recent addition, Timur “FL4MUS” Marev, due to visa complications.
Veteran player Nikolay “mir” Bityukov will step in as a replacement.
Awaiting the winners in the semifinals are NAVI and Vitality, both of whom earned direct spots in the top four. The tournament will conclude on Sunday with the grand final, where the next IEM Katowice champion will be crowned.
