During the media day for BLAST Open Rotterdam, MOUZ rifler Jimi “Jimpphat” Salo clarified his position regarding the recent winter transfer window speculation. Following the Budapest Major, rumors circulated suggesting he was preparing to leave the organization, a narrative Jimpphat has now firmly denied.
The Source of the Speculation
The primary catalyst for the rumors was a podcast featuring prominent Counter-Strike commentator Chad “SPUNJ” Burchill, who suggested there was a high probability of Jimpphat changing teams. When asked about the situation and potential offers following the Budapest Major, Jimpphat stated that a move was never on the table.
“I never even considered about it. There was not really offers that took my interest… I had no intention in the after-Budapest Major to do any changes.”
He attributed the speculation to the nature of CS media, noting that analysts and influencers sometimes rely on unreliable sources to generate engaging storylines.
Managing Internal Distractions
While Jimpphat easily dismissed the rumors personally, the reach of the claims did have a temporary impact on the team’s internal dynamics. The influence of the source prompted direct questions from MOUZ’s staff.
“It came to the point, you know, that my coach is coming to ask me, ‘What is this?'”
Because he had not expressed any desire to leave to his teammates or staff, hearing the rumor from a major media figure naturally caused confusion within the camp. Jimpphat noted that the situation ended up putting some fire behind the scenes. However, he quickly reassured the team that the claims were entirely false, adding his perspective on how players should handle baseless media speculation:
“[You] just need to accept it and keep your head cool.”
Commitment to the Current Roster
Despite outside expectations from the community linking him to other large organizations, Jimpphat emphasized his commitment to MOUZ. While the team is still searching for their first major trophy since Cluj, he believes they remain one of the top contenders in the world.
“I really came to this season in hopes that with MOUZ we are able to lift a trophy because I really think we have a good team. I just want to feel it with this team because I feel like we have all of the right pieces.”
For now, Jimpphat’s focus remains strictly on the server, with the immediate goal of securing a playoff spot at BLAST Rotterdam and pushing MOUZ back into the winner’s circle.
MOUZ face The MongolZ later today in their first match at the tournament.
