In one of the opening matches of the Legends Stage, we have the Copenhagen Flames who went 3-0 in the Challengers Stage versus the star-stacked squad G2 in a Bo1.
Seeing as it is a Bo1 the map veto in this matchup was a bit surprising as the map left unbanned was Ancient. Even though G2 has looked comfortable on Ancient, Copenhagen Flames has looked nearly flawless winning over 80% of their 22 Ancients in the last three months. This was maybe a sign that G2 had noticed a flaw in the Danes approach of the map. G2 would start on the CT-side, meaning that the Copenhagen Flames would start out as terrorists.
G2 wanted to show dominance from the start and took the first round of the map – not surprising, having some of the best pistol players in the world. Their success was short-lived as the Flames took the win in the following force-buy. Throughout the first half, the Danes looked the strongest, but G2 did manage seven rounds as a result of big individual plays.
The second half started in the same fashion as the first, G2 taking the pistol and Flames taking the force-buy. The Danish squad then converted the following two, but were then broken by a great-looking G2 T-side, who then went on to take the rest of the rounds, and thus the map at 16-11.
This G2 team looks like someone you have to take absolutely seriously.
