G2 predicted to start in Stage 2 of Starladder Major after losses at EPL

The recent victors of BLAST Open London over Vitality stomached losses against Gentle Mates and B8 at ESL Pro League (EPL).

The recent victors of BLAST Open London over Vitality stomached losses against Gentle Mates and B8 at ESL Pro League (EPL).

Note: As of October 4th, G2 was predicted to make it to Stage 3 of the Starladder Budapest Major as AURORA dropped below them in the ranking, despite the mentioned losses. On October 5th, G2 were confirmed to make it to Stage 3 of the Major.

G2 Esports defeated ENCE 2-0 in dominant fashion today to book themselves a top-16 spot at the event.

The match occurred as a 2-2 decider, as G2 had some frightful losses against lesser ranked opponents, with corresponding VRS consequences. Their 1-2 loss against Gentle Mates, the 25th-ranked team at the time hailing from Spain, knocked G2 down from #3 to #6 in the European VRS.

This is with the added impact that no matches from the following stage of the event will count, as it will end after the Major invite cutoff on October 6th. The consequence is that G2 are now predicted by HLTV to start the Major in Stage 2, when a cleaner run at EPL could have granted them a Stage 1 spot.

This is a far cry from G2’s high last month, defeating the #1 team of 2025, Team Vitality, in a best-of-five series on-stage at BLAST Open London.

SunPayus said on the broadcast that G2 has been making a lot of uncharacteristic mistakes, including “missing nades” and that people “don’t remember things sometimes”.

You can watch G2’s run at EPL continue on October 4th.
